Absztrakt: Éloge du théâtre [In Praise of Theatre] was published in 2013. This little book contains a dialogue on theatre, a text based on a public talk between French philosopher Alain Badiou and journalist Nicolas Truong, which took place on 15 July 2012 as a part of the „Theatre of Ideas” series at the Festival of Avignon. Badiou, who has already published a series of similar discussion books by Flammarion (Éloge des mathématiques, Éloge de la politique, Éloge de l’amour), declares that the theatre requires special attention because it has been under attack by right and left, and contemplates the differences between dance, cinema and theatre, the role of the spectator, political stages, and the ancient and strong connection between theatre and philosophy.
